You may have seen this making the rounds on Facebook lately, but I figured might as well share it here, too.

I consider myself pretty disciplined about using my phone in the car. I basically only use it once in a great while for a phone call. After seeing this, though, I don’t know that I can even justify that.

I guess you have a lack of loud motorbikes where you live.

It’s tragic. I never use my phone for calls or texts, although I do have it on a mount for using Spotify. Even that I don’t consider ideal since I do occasionally scroll through it to change songs, playlists, etc., although at least I do it when I'm stopped.

Texting and driving is idiotic - no text my friends have ever received have been so important that it couldn't wait. Sadly, the "it's not going to happen to me," or the "I'm still a good driver" type of attitude is prevalent and probably not going away anytime soon.

The problem is people don’t see vehicles as the deadly missiles they are. If people actually realized that, they wouldn’t text and drive or talk on the phone ect... They’d actually fucking drive the vehicle.

I throw my phone in the trunk, problem solved. The biggest problem on the roads today is phone use, from my perspective the text/call/email/whatever can wait, driving is serious business.

The sad thing is, people are still gonna send quick snaps of the road ahead. Also, is that blond girl wearing Stan Smiths with red accents? Fye.

IMHO...the very sad undercurrent with this video is it’s trying to do the very job that parents of those kid should be skilled at and responsible for. Creating awareness...being a consistent, unwavering role model...reinforcing the consequences of one’s actions...and, ultimately, mandating the inescapable responsibility one must “own” for said actions.

Instead, folks bitch when they have to “hit a button twice” on their iPad.

Well... after just under a minute, I decided that’s all I need to see. Texting is great. Nothing more to see here.

Stopped the video and carried on with my life in my usual happy bliss.

:o)

Okay... on a more serious note, I knew what was coming. But I don’t like messing with my phone anyway while driving unless it’s to check directions that I already entered in before I start driving.

Powerful. But sadly, humans hardly ever change their behavior... There really needs to be an option to disable notifications (and calls, if no Bluetooth) if the phone senses it’s traveling faster than 5 or 10 mph.
